Eileen Dordek is a proven and tireless advocate whose roots are deep in the 13th District. She lives, works, volunteers and is raising her family in the District, which includes Uptown, Bowmanville, Budlong Woods, Lincoln Square, Ravenswood, and parts of Andersonville and Lakeview. As a licensed Social Worker and proven advocate, Eileen has spent her life serving others and advocating for the rights of women, families, and the LGBTQ community.
As State Representative, Eileen will be a voice in Springfield for working families and our progressive values.
Eileen started her career working at Sarah’s Circle in Uptown where she discovered her passion for community service while working with people struggling with housing insecurity, addiction, and mental health issues. She went on to earn her Social Work Degree at Loyola University, Chicago, becoming a mental health professional practicing in the Ravenswood neighborhood. Eileen loves working directly to help people who struggle with anxiety or depression or have experienced trauma. Through this work, she has learned the limits of our mental healthcare system and has seen firsthand the impact that policy decisions can have on people’s lives. As State Representative, Eileen will work to improve access to mental health services and social services, so desperately needed to address the deep wounds exacerbated by the pandemic, poverty, and violence.
Eileen has been actively involved in Personal PAC-Illinois, an organization committed to electing pro-choice elected officials, serving on the Board since 2009 and as Chair from 2019-2021. During that time, she worked to elect leaders committed to ensuring safe and accessible reproductive healthcare to the people of Illinois. She is a proud member of the board of Equality Illinois, a highly impactful organization fighting for the rights of the LGBTQ community. As State Representative, Eileen won’t back down as the US Supreme Court stands on the cusp of overturning 50 years of reproductive freedom and turning back the clock on equality and will be an experienced leader in Springfield in the fight for access to safe and legal abortion and equality for all Illinois families.
Service to others has driven Eileen’s professional work, and she will use that experience to be a strong and effective voice for the 13th District. “I’ve learned that I can’t always change the world, but I can have an impact on my local community. Whether through organizing a food and toiletry drive, knocking doors to educate my neighbors about issues in the community, volunteering at a food pantry, or supporting environmental efforts in the neighborhood, community is always a priority. I will continue my service to the community as your State Representative. I look forward to meeting you on the campaign trail.“
